Tobias Hartmann born in Palanyine, Germany, arrived in Philadelphia PA. Nov 23, 1770 on Ship Crawford with Wife Marie Elizabeth and two sons John and Ludwig. Capt. of the Crawford was Charles Smith. He settled in Shrewsbury, York, PA., where he purchased 100 acres from Jacob Sheirer on 8 Sept 1779 and 14 acres, 98 perches from Henry Engel on9 Aug. 1790, adjoing his other acreage.. He Died in 1817 at Codorus, Shrewsbury Township, York Co., PA.. His will of 1810 names all of his children. He is buried with his wife in Blymire or Lutheran Cemetery currently known as St. John's United Church of Christ, Dallastown, Windsor, Pa. His will isVol 3T pg 365-66 York Co. Pa. Deed Book., ref. a: page 315, 316, 347.
