Curt served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969. He then worked as a Reporter and City Editor of the Charleston, WV, Gazette. In 1971, he joined the reporting staff of the Akron Beacon Journal and in 1974 became the Public Relations Director of the United Rubber Workers. The URW merged with the Steelworkers in 1995 and Curt relocated to Pittsburgh. He was there from 1996-1998, when he retired and returned to Ohio. He was accredited by the Public Relations Society of America.
